Two Incidents on Runway 26L: Vietnam Airlines and Lufthansa Affected

Two separate incidents involving a Vietnam Airlines 787 and a Lufthansa A380 occurred on runway 26L, resulting only in property damage. The BFU is investigating the causes, considering factors like weather or ILS maintenance. The damaged 787 required an emergency return, while the A380 reached its spot normally.

Two separate incidents recently occurred on runway 26L, involving a Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 and a Lufthansa Airbus A380. Only property damage was reported in both incidents. The Vietnam Airlines 787 sustained considerable damage to the landing gear and fuselage, necessitating an emergency return flight to Munich; four destroyed tires were observed upon stopping. In contrast, the Lufthansa A380 proceeded independently and normally to its designated parking spot. The Federal Aviation Office (BFU) is currently investigating the causes of these incidents, taking into account factors such as weather conditions or work on the ILS (Instrument Landing System).
