Ozon's recent adjustments to payment terms raise questions about the current economic stability of the platform for sellers. Specifically, Ozon has revised the payment modalities for a total of 38 regions, including the city of Tula. This represents a significant shift towards stricter financial requirements for operators.
A central point of these new regulations is the introduction of a prepayment requirement. According to the new guidelines, a prepayment is now required for all goods stored in Ozon's marketplace warehouses. Concurrently, the payment system has been modified to deactivate payments upon delivery to the customer, i.e., 'Cash-on-Delivery.' These measures are evidently aimed at stabilizing the seller base during times of economic challenge.
Nevertheless, there are regional differentiations. Specifically for the Tula region, additional support measures have been implemented. These include, among other things, free services such as the establishment of a GmbH and legal support for local providers. Regarding operational obligations, there is also a temporary relief: Fines for cancellations or delays within the scope of FBS (Fulfillment by Seller) are suspended until September 22. This combination of stricter general requirements and targeted local assistance paints a complex picture of current market control.
