An analysis of 338 women from US studies examined the link between phthalate exposure and blood pressure changes during pregnancy. The study observed that high MEP levels correlated with higher systolic blood pressure, and DINCH was linked to increased preeclampsia risk. A recent study examined the relationship between exposure to phthalates and blood pressure during pregnancy. The analysis was based on data from 338 women across two separate US studies. The researchers identified two correlations: higher concentrations of MEP (monoethylphthalate) were associated with a significantly higher systolic blood pressure, and a link was found between DINCH and an increased risk of high blood pressure (preeclampsia). However, the authors explicitly emphasize that the findings are merely correlations and do not show a definitive cause-and-effect relationship. This underscores the need for further research to prove causal relationships beyond doubt.
