Sophie Adenot: French Space Heritage and European Pioneer

Sophie Adenot has marked historical milestones, becoming the second European woman to conduct an EVA outside a space station and the second French woman in space after Claudie Haigneré. Her preparation included intensive training, and she is noted for her background as an engineer and former test pilot.
Sophie Adenot has achieved significant historical milestones in her career. She is one of the second European women to perform an Extravehicular Activity (EVA) outside a space station. Furthermore, she holds a special place for France, as she is the second French woman to travel to space, following Claudie Haigneré.
Adenot herself brings a strong technical background: she is an engineer and former test pilot. Mastering this extraordinary mission required intensive preparation; the ESA reported that these preparations included around 150 hours of underwater training. Her space flight took place in February and followed Samantha Cristoforetti, who was already in space in 2022.
These achievements underscore Adenot's role as an important figure for both European and French space history.
