Mecklenburg-Vorpommern faces potential government blockade due to boycotts

The political landscape in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern shows signs of a deep slowdown, the cause of which lies in the boycotting positions of some major actors. Specifically, the Greens and the BSW have boycotted participation in the state parliament. This situation presents the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) with the urgent task of forming a viable coalition.
This pattern severely limits the CDU's scope for action. Crucial here is the so-called incompatibility resolution of the CDU, which makes a coalition with the AfD impossible. Given this constraint, it must be stated that the AfD alone cannot form a one-party government. This creates a necessity for the CDU to form a coalition either with the SPD and the Left Party or with another configuration.
The urgency of the moment can hardly be overestimated. The CDU must make a decision quickly, because the consequences of this political deadlock affect not only the state politics of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern but also cast a shadow over federal politics. The open question remains how quickly and with which actors political stability can be restored.
