Justice Minister Hubig plans amendment to Article 3 of the Basic Law to include protection of sexual identity

The Federal Minister of Justice, Stefanie Hubig, is planning a comprehensive amendment to the Basic Law. At the core of this planned reform is the explicit anchoring of protection against discrimination based on sexual identity. The Minister considers this measure necessary, especially in light of recent security concerns highlighted by an Islamist terrorist attack in Berlin. Beyond this amendment, the proposal covers other important areas of reform. Hubig also plans improvements in information exchange between the security and justice authorities to optimize the cooperation of these state institutions. Another focus of her plans concerns juvenile criminal law, where she wants to refine the procedures and ensure greater attention to the juvenile court service.
