Health Minister Begins Term with Health Insurance Surplus Despite Rising Service Expenditures

The new Health Minister took office in an environment where health insurance funds are reporting a surplus, despite increased general service expenditures. This points to a complex financial situation in the healthcare system, where costs are continuously rising even though revenues are available.
An analysis of the expenditures shows that several areas have increased significantly. In particular, inpatient care recorded the largest increase in cost block at 8.8% in the first half of the year. Added to this are rising costs for home intensive care, which increased by 9.7%, as well as an increase in the costs for medical aids of 9.3%.
Experts attribute the rising hospital expenditures mainly to personnel costs, naming costs in the nursing sector as the driving force. In summary, it can be stated that service expenditures per insured person have increased, even if revenues were higher.
