Gabriel Felbermayr warns of global debt crisis and sovereignty risk

Gabriel Felbermayr urges caution regarding the global debt situation, pointing out that rising global yields represent a serious risk. A major driver of this development is the increasing anxiety from the Middle East, as investors fear that a prolonged conflict will keep energy prices and inflation rates at a high level.
Felbermayr expressed particular concern about high levels of government debt, especially in the United States. Furthermore, he criticized the interventions of the central banks, from both the US and Japan, regarding the yen and Japanese government bonds (JGBs).
According to Felbermayr, confidence in maintaining low interest rates through central bank operations has been lost. Such measures ultimately lead to an inflationary effect. The combination of high public debt and questionable monetary policy interventions places additional pressure on the European Central Bank (ECB).
