Coral-like Mushrooms Discovered in Karelian Forests: Experts Warn Against Collection
Coral-like mushrooms, identified as belonging to the genus *Ramaria*, have been found in Karelia. Because some species require specific thermal treatment and certain types are protected by the Karelian Red Book, experts strongly advise collectors only to photograph them and not collect them.
Mushrooms resembling coral have been discovered in the forests of Karelia. This discovery has attracted the attention of mycologists, who have assigned the specimens to the genus Ramaria. Locally, these mushrooms are known by names such as "deer antlers" or "bear paw." Nevertheless, important precautions must be observed. In particular, species such as Ramaria flavescens require thermal treatment before they can be consumed. Furthermore, certain types of these mushrooms are protected in the Karelian Red Book. Given these circumstances, experts strongly advise collectors to only photograph rare specimens and not remove them.
