After inspections, Ms. Spranger had to confront the finding that a large portion of the delivered protective plates are defective and no longer offer the required protection. This is not an isolated incident but a problem that dates back several years.
Specifically, it was determined that over 5,200 ballistic plates are defective and therefore no longer considered shot-proof. The affected plates come from a model identified as KINS.0087 D T04 C01 and were designed for protection level 4. Particularly alarming is that the deficiencies in these plates date back to 2017.
This state of defect has significant financial implications for the city. Estimates suggest that the cost calculation for replacing the defective equipment amounts to around 1.2 million euros. Given these facts, Senator Spranger has now taken active measures and demands compensation from Rheinmetall for the damages incurred and the necessary corrections.
