Berlin AI Startup Raises €120M for Medical Diagnostics Platform
Berlin-based MediSense AI announced the close of a €120M Series B funding round, led by Sequoia Europe with participation from Deutsche Bank Ventures and several private investors.
The technology
The MediSense platform uses deep learning to analyse medical imaging:
- CT scans: detection of lung tumours from 3mm in size
- Brain MRI: early diagnosis of neurodegenerative conditions
- Dermatoscopy: classification of skin lesions
In clinical trials across 12 German hospitals, the system demonstrated 94.3% accuracy in diagnosing stage I–II lung cancer — compared to 71% for radiologists without AI support.
Plans
The funds will go towards CE certification in the EU and FDA approval in the US, as well as expanding the team from 180 to 400 employees. Commercial launch is planned for Q1 2027.
